Yesterday, my host family and I participated in the Hippo Family Club. It is supposed to be a club where kids and adults can learn other languages in a group format. It seems to be a cross between a social club, community meeting, and "let all the kids play together time" held together with some interesting songs and a time when everyone gets to say something about themselves. I was instantly swarmed by about 15 kids when I arrived, and I played with them for over 3 hours! They nearly whipped me, as you can see from the picture.
Today, we had Kendo! I was incredibly excited about this when I heard it was going down. After a short demo or two with live blades, and some basic kendo instruction, four of us had a chance to fit out in armor and we got to go at each other. I was one of those chosen, and I went up against Lulu, who I crushed soundly (sorry Lu). Anyways, I'm looking forward to doing even MORE kendo with these guys later. It was a blast!
